Hi,
Regarding Facebook, the Facebook Image Thumbnail support page says:
The image Facebook selects for other posts and pages depends on where and how you have uploaded images to your blog, as follows:
- Featured image: if a featured image has been uploaded for a post/page, we will recommend to Facebook that this image be used as a first priority.
- Uploaded images: If you haven’t assigned a Featured Image, we recommend images to Facebook that you have inserted into your post. They are recommended from top to bottom in your post.
- No Images: If no images are used in your post, we will recommend a transparent image. Facebook will also look at the content posted elsewhere on the page for images that will work, such as widgets, the header, and others.
