Picture on Home page and in Blog

  Good afternoon, I am just setting up the blog and want the picture to be shown on the home page, together with the line of text. To do this I have to make it a Featured picture. Then when clicking on ‘read more’ the picture shows Twice inside the blog. How do I avoid showing it twice inside the blog but still have it show on the home page? Thanks for your time.
