Picture size
-
This may be a dumb question as I’m kinda new at wordpress but when replacing the photos on a template with my own, how do I know what sizes to use? Instead of guessing, I’d like to see the size of the existing ones that fit so perfect!
Thoughts??The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

go to media library, click on the picture, at right side you will see Dimensions: — by — pixels
-
Unfortunately they’re not in the my media library as it’s a page I’ve added that happened to have pictures on template.
-
The cover image dimension is 4096 by 2095 px, you can check the image by inspecting from your browser.
-
not the cover image…. but I googled how to inspect and got it!!! thanks :) between google and the forums I might be able to figure this stuff out!!
-
Ugh nope. it didn’t work. I grabbed the proper pixel size, resize the image but it’s still not right…. Is there a tutorial on adding pictures with the proper sizes somewhere. I need help! hahaha

Hi there,
There is no right image size. You add images at the size that you want to use them.
For the theme you’re using the main content column is 740px wide, so for any image that you don’t want to show full-width, anything you upload bigger than that will just waste space in your media library. And the recommended dimensions for featured images in this theme is 2000px wide by 1200px high. You can find these numbers on the theme support page at https://wordpress.com/theme/hever
For any full-width image, including background images you add to the Cover block, that 2000px width is a good guideline.
But how big the images actually appear on the site will depend on what sizing setting you choose when you add the image to a post or page, and the size at which the featured image and cover block background image appear will depend on the size of the screen someone uses to to view your site. Featured and background images can also get cropped depending on screen size.
Let me know if you have any more questions about this.

Helpful information. Thanks kokkleh. However I’m not dealing with feature images or covers……
The page I’m talking about is this one:
https://kristieeccleston.com/the-podcast/
You’ll see there are 3 images in a row. The left one is the one I’ve replaced and obviously it’s not sized correctly. The original images are all 518 x 518 so I sized my picture to 518 x 518 but it still isn’t right. How do I get it to the exact size of the other two. Anything else, or guess work looks completely unprofessional.
“How big the images actually appear on the site will depend on the sizing setting you choose” – where do I find this?
Thanks

The center and right images are both 750×750, the left image is 267×285.
To re-size the images, please follow the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/image-block/#resizing-images

Thanks! MacManx can you tell me how you got the size info?? I’m sorry I’m so beginner. I got 518 x 518 when I followed the last persons instructions. what am I not getting?

If you follow the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/image-block/#resizing-images you’ll need the current set size to the left when you click on the image.
