Pictures

I added pictures on a post but how do i make them appear bigger. The pictures are so small unless i click it. On other blogs i’ve been on they are very big. Please help me.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Click on the image when editing the post, and then click on the image edit icon at upper left. You can then increase the size there.
Also, when inserting an image, you can select the size you want to insert (thumbnail, medium, large, or full-sized) as well as selecting if you want the smaller image to link to the full-sized image when you click on it (press “file URL” button).
-
Also when asking questions in the forums, make sure and include a link to your blog because many times we cannot answer a question until we take a look at it.
-
Thank You sry for not including a link. I knew i had to but my blog is private and only some of my friends are allowed to see it.
-

Even a private blog with a link provided to a wordpress.COM may be useful for your questions. (often there are questions from folks with wp.ORG blogs that we can’t help with) Even a private link will allow us to answer general questions. As yours is. Read the post from thesacredpath at 12:57 AM: especially the part about: “file URL” button.”

If one chooses the thumbnail image which can be clicked to a full view, does that save on space, as in the limit we have before we need to purchase extra?
And another question… when I put a picture in a post, I put the description of the picture in the little box provided… and even though the photo published perfectly, the description was not there.
Is there something else I should have done?

1. No. But you needn’t worry about that: the available storing space is enough for thousands of pictures (provided you upload images in reasonably low resolution and/or optimized for the web).
2. You get three “Link” options before inserting a picture. Those options determine what happens when you click on a thumbnail:
None = no separate view.
File URL = new window with the real-size image alone.
Post URL = new window with the image in a blog-like “attachment page”. That’s when and where the description shows up.If you don’t choose the third option, you can write a caption instead, or write the description as plain text in the post itself.
-
Thanks, I think I understand that.
The trial I did with publishing a photo, I did not post it as a thumbnail, but the next size up. Does all the above still apply the same way?
Yeah, I know I can include the caption in the text, but it is very hard then to get it under the image.
-
1. Yes, they all apply no matter what the displayed size.
2. You’re right, some things are hard or impossible if you limit yourself to the tools the post editor provides. For tricky arrangments of images and chunks of text (or any item) you need html coding for tables (I don’t know if you’re ready for that!). If you are a PC user, you can also use Windows Live Writer to format your posts.

Thanks, panaghiotisadam, you have been most helpful.
Believe it or not, I do actually know a little about html… the basic commands for text and colours. Have used them on my auction page. However, I do now see where I may have gone wrong, and will attend to it next time.
And if I may, just one more question:
Some of the poeple who come to the forum have photos and pictures next to their name, and all I have is that ugly green blob…. Green is NOT my colour! I went into ‘profile’, where I thought there may have been some link or other, to put in a picture, but could not find any.
So tell me, how can I get rid of that green blob and replace it with either a nice picture or my own ugly dial?

panaghiotisadam thanks for this explanation page.
However, when I go to upload avatar, it tells me to click on ‘your profile’ and look for ‘change gravatar’…….
When I click on it, my profile page comes up, and nowhere on that page can I find anything which vaguely refers to avatar or gravatar.
What am I missing?

lifemagician, I tried this and when my profile opens up, I see my avatar in the top right corner. If I click on it, I have the option to upload a new image to use as my avatar.
I haven’t read through this whole thread, but have you created a gravatar account at http://www.gravatar.com ?
-
@mikeostrich, since Automattic (wordpress) bought Gravatar a while ago, it is not linked directly to wordpress.COM, so if you have an account here at wordpress.COM, you automatically have one at Gravatar. The old Avatar thing here has actually disappeared and the Gravatar stuff has taken its place.
-
I give up.
There is absolutely no reference to either avatar or gravatar on my profile page. Not sure if you guys work with the same thing as I do.
How can I get rid of that green blob?
-
How? As has been suggested before:
