Pictures are all gone.

    Hello

All of my pictures are gone from my site and now they are marked with an X
    Can you help me?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I see all the images on the blog linked to your username just fine – at least on the main page.

Since the images are hosted off-site, the issue is or would most likely be with the image hosting service rather than with wordpress. All of those images have to be fetched from that image hosting company by the visitor’s browser before they can be displayed, and if the image host has server or connection issues, then the images will not show up on your blog.

gosh why can’t some of us just keep our windows live space..since our pictures are gone…that sucks because i had lots of pictures over the years stored on windows live spaces that are not on my computer anymore…so is there a way we can keep out windows live space if we don’t want word press…because word press is much harder than windows live spaces…windows live spaces was way much easier than this crap..sorry to say..but i think that everyone should have a choice if they want their windows live spaces then they can keep it…if the want wordpress then let them upgrade..this sucks..i really liked msn n windows live spaces since i got it years and years and years and years and years and years ago…so let everyone have a choice if they want to keep their windows live space..n if they do let them…because everyone out there has a different opinion…and i’m sure there’s a lot of people out ther who want 2 keep their windows live space rather than have 2 go 2 wordpress…it’s much easier n less hassle 2 keep windows live spaces..since all our pics are already on windows live spaces…and i don’t have my pics that were on windows live spaces on my computer…so that sucks big time…so i think that if we want 2 upgrade 2 wordpress fine..if we don’t then we should still be able to go 2 our windows live space…thanx

@elizabethchandler: Microsoft gave you two options: move to WordPress.com (then move elsewhere if you wish) or say goodbye to your blog in March 2011. Moving back to Windows Live Spaces is not an option for anyone because they are closing.

Also, most visitors panic and go “Oh no, my pictures are gone, I hate WordPress.com” when in fact they are not gone, they are right where they left them:

If you are talking about pictures in your photo albums, I would suggest moving them over to flickr or some other photo sharing service. There is some confusion as to whether photos.live.com is going to be around after March 2011 or not. Currently though any photo albums you had there are still there and safe.

I think Flickr only allows 200 images for free before you have to pay for premium. Unless it’s changed. Photobucket I believe allows 1,000 for free. But you have to pay for premium if you go over 1,000 or if the bandwidth exceeds the free monthly amount.

Thanks PSB, I was unaware of those limitations.

Photobucket, however, has a nasty habit of deleting images that are even slightly controversial.

Flickr does let you upload as many as you want for free BUT it limits how many can actually be viewed from your photostream, so basically for every one you upload over the limit one of your 1st ones disappears (its still on server but just can not see it)

Thanks richerifkind. The 200 limit was when I tried out Flickr but that was years ago and I wasn’t sure of any new changes. When I was there, there was a 200 free limit & a certain free bandwidth limit per month. But I’ve also known people who lost their Flickr & Photobucket accounts for “controversial” pictures. I only had a few pictures deleted from Photobucket like tame bikini pictures. So be careful what you upload through both of them.

Those 200 visible images means visible on flickr. If you link an image in your flickr photostream outside flickr and go over the 200 limit, you can still see the image outside flickr. Don’t think that’s changed.
