Pictures do not display completely

  • Unknown's avatar

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I’ve used the cubic theme for some time but noticed that the pictures of my posts don’t completely show on the right side of the page. I have tried a different theme where they do show the entire picture but I prefer the cubic theme. Is there a way to fix this?

    Kind regards,

    Petra

  • Hi Petra,

Do you refer to the images being cropped along the sides?

It can’t really be “fixed”, because it’s by design – Cubic uses square thumbnails, so any featured image that’s not perfectly square will get cropped to fit into the available space. If your image is in a portrait orientation, it will get cropped at the top and bottom, and if it’s landscape, it will get cropped on the left and right sides.

If you don’t want your images cropped, the only way to prevent that is to make sure you use square images as your featured images. In other words, you’d need to edit the image on your computer and resize and crop it square before you upload them to your site, or set your phone/camera to take images at the 1:1 aspect ration rather than 4:3 or 16:9.

    Hi!
Thank you for your reply! I don’t mean the images on the first page with all the blog titles I understand it’s part of the theme, but the images when you click on a post that I’ve put with the text. The images on the left and center have their normal dimensions and are not square, but the ones on the right are cropped and also not square. I never noticed this before.

  • Okay, so you’re referring to the image gallery in the posts. Thanks for clarifying :)

It looks like this is a known issue with the theme. It has been reported to our developers, but I’m afraid I can’t give you a timeline for when this might be fixed.

It’s possible to alleviate the issue with some custom CSS code, but you’d need to be on our premium plan to use that.
