Pictures dont load

Hi Im brand new to wordpress. I had a blog on weebly and thought it would be similar to work but appears not so! I cant seem to load pictures in to my text posts. When I click ‘add picture’ and select one from my desk top it always just shows as 0% loaded. I’ve tried lots of times with different pictures! Also, how do I include pictures within my text?
On a separate note…I have a static first page and my blog posts are not showing up anywhere…how do others access them if they are invisible? Can I add a list of topics to click on for various blog posts? I’ve spent hours on the dashboard trying to figure this all out and am at my wits end! Any help/advice much appreciated!

Take a look through that and see if it helps. If you’re still having problems, come back and let us know what’s going wrong.
