Pictures gone from past blog posts code 404?

AS I look back on past posts many of my pictures are gone? Why is this?

Please post active links starting with http:// to the exact posts and/or pages the images are missing from. Without them we can’t even begin to help you.
If you uploaded images from your computer into your blog then they will be found in your Media Library as they will be hosted on WordPress.com servers. http://en.support.wordpress.com/media/
If you uploaded images from your computer onto WordPress.com servers and cannot locate them in the blog’s Media Library because you deleted them we cannot help you. They are gone and you will have to upload them again.
If the missing images are ones you have linked to on some other server somewhere else online that does allow hotlinking to images such as Flickr or Photobucket check with theme for known issues.
If the missing images are ones you have linked to on some other server somewhere else online that does NOT allow hotlinking to images the source site can make sure the images will not be displayed. They can even post a warning not to do this in place of the image.
Note that if you do not hold copyright to the missing images and if there are bot terms of use granted to others for their use by the party who does hold copyright they can also insure the images do not display. Alternatively, they can link to a warning re: copyright violation and they can pursue a DMCA takedown notice.
That’s why I have asked where are the missing image hosted and what are the URLs of the posts and/or pages from which they are missing.

You seem to have a ton of large images on the front page – ran my internet connection wide open for some time before I gave up – that will sometime cause failure to display problems also
