I found out that pictures in tables are of variabile size only since yesterday. Are tables not allowed since yesterday?
How can I solve my problem. I have 1034 post with pictures in tables in http://stareslike.cerknica.org ? And they are showing in mini mini size instead medium size now.

– Blog with the trouble: http://stareslike.cerknica.org
– Post: http://stareslike.cerknica.org/2012/10/23/1901-cerknica-pogled-s-kamne-gorice/ – and other 1000 post, 99% of all posts contain<table>
– In the first column of the table (<table></table>) pictures of medium size (300×180) are shown as tiny thumbsnails (65×49) (see https://www.dropbox.com/s/iy1ad84kglibph3/Screencapture.jpg).
– When no text in the second column, pictures are displayed in correct size.
– The visual editor shows correct size in preview. (see https://www.dropbox.com/s/w02i0e09b3g6344/Screencapture%20editor.jpg)

That’s odd, they all seem to be sized well for me: http://cl.ly/image/0o10372v081t
Would you please tell us which browser (and version of) you’re using?

When at least one picture has a caption then all pictures in the table are of the intended size.

All of those results I’d expect, except for Chrome 22.
IE 7 and 8 are quite out of date, do not support the latest web technologies, and as such we cannot support them.
I’m working with Chrome 22 now, and I do see the problem there.
The tricky part here is that tables have been deprecated in HTML 5. Your theme still broadcasts its doctype as XHTML 1.0 (which is more like HTML 4), so you should be fine for now.
You might want to try applying some specific height values to the cells via the Text editor tab.
-
Ok, I can put specific width for cells with pictures. For 1000 posts it will take me some 20 hours of intensive work. Is there any better solution.
And there is not only Chrome! Android native browser and iOS 6 safari changed their behavior on October 23 too.
-
No need to change them all now. Let’s just try some specific height declarations on the cells at http://stareslike.cerknica.org/2012/10/23/1901-cerknica-pogled-s-kamne-gorice/

I “corrected” http://stareslike.cerknica.org/2012/10/23/1901-cerknica-pogled-s-kamne-gorice/ by adding capture (just a dot) to the first picture in the table and
http://stareslike.cerknica.org/2012/10/25/1950-cerknica-poroka-pri-blazicevih-2/ by adding
<td width="300"> to the first picture in the table. Both work but adding a dot as a capture is faster and less prone to error.

The Stareslike (vintage pictures) blog is a living enciclopedia about local tradition not just a blog. So all posts are searched and active.

I tried with a height declaration but without success. It doesn’t work. And rows of my tables (pictures and text) are of several different heights.
Fortunately, pictures in the first columnn in nearly all tables are 300px wide. In today’s post http://stareslike.cerknica.org/2012/10/26/1936-rakek-igra-dom/ I inserted
<td style="width:300px;">and it looks ok.Is this an appropriate solution for other published posts? It looks better than inserting a dot in picture caption. How long do you think this solution will work? Is there any better solution or do I have to change all 1000 posts?
Thank you for your patience and help.

Ok, stick with the width declaration then. I had hoped that height would be more universal in this case, but I guess width wins out.
The fix will definitely last as long as tables are not fully deprecated in browsers, because you are actually declaring a specific value this time and not leaving it open to interpretation (which is what the problem was).
To further future-proof things, you might want to consider just aligning the images without tables: http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-alignment/
Or, use a gallery with captions: http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/

Thank you for your help. Now I know what to do. I hoped for an easier solution but anyway, this weekend I will start to change posts one by one .
