Pictures refuse to be labeled anything but “Uncategorized.” Why?

“Monotone” theme with pictures. Prior to labeling my pictures, I created a new category in the Manage > Categories link. I added the category “4th Down Group.”
I uploaded pictures to the Monotone theme template and all went well. I toggled them all to the correct Category so that they would be labeled as a group.
Then something happened, or my finger slipped, and all of the pictures automatically selected back to “Uncategorized.”
After that I have been unable to change the “Uncategorized” to “4th Down Group” label. Some remain “4th Down Group” but all of the others are labeled “Uncategorized.”
Question:
How can I get all the pictures to be labeled with my label, “4th Down” rather than “Uncategorized”?lornakismet.wordpress.com

If “Uncategorized” is a category you don’t actually need, go to Settings>Writing and select “4th Down” as your Default Post Category (saving changes, of course). Then go to Manage>Categories and delete “Uncategorized”: this way all the posts previously under that category will move to “4th Down”.

(One more time – the link you provided doesn’t go to a blog using Monotone. And the only time we need a link to the blog is when it is different from the one in your user name, as is the case here.)

The URL is: lornacheyenne.wordpress.comMy question to Panaghiotisadam: If I do as you described, and if “4th Down” becomes the default category, then what will happen to the odds and ends pictures that in fact I want to leave as “Uncategorized”? They will go to “4th Down Group” and get lost. Or am I missing something or maybe looking for problems? :-)

I did as you suggested. I went to Dashboard > Manage > CategoriesIn the Categories there were/are three categories:
1) Chris
2) 4th Down Group
3) Uncategorized.The first two categories have boxes for selection and deselection.
The Uncategorized has no such selection/deselection box, and thus it cannot be deleted. Actually, though I want an Uncategorized option where I can send the odds and ends pictures.

Well actually you didn’t do as I suggested: my suggestion included first going to Settings>Writing and changing default category. The default category is the one that justifiably gets no selection box and cannot be deleted in Manage>Categories. Also, it’s the one your posts are assigned to if you forget to assign them to another category.
Anyway, since you don’t want to delete “Uncategorized”, you can forget my suggestion.
Now i don’t see why you seem to be unable to reassign posts. To do that, you go to Manage>Posts, click on title of post, scroll down below the text editor to “Categories”, check the one you want and uncheck the other (note that a post can also be assigned to more than one categories), scroll back up to click Save – that’s it. Same thing when you write a new post.
