Pictures show up on main page but not permalink page

    For example on this page:
    http://qjphotos.wordpress.com/2009/08/31/36-views-of-the-ushiku-daibutsu/
Sometimes re-uploading the photos helps; sometimes it doesn’t.

When I click on the link to the picture, I get a 404 file not found error. I checked the html from the index page and the permalink page, and it seem to be the same.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the blog and/or images. There are simply too many and on a slow Internet connection they may fail to load. I suggest using thumbnails in your posts and reducing the number of posts per page.

hudsal, thanks for the suggestion, but I question whether that could be the reason. There are a lot more photos on the main page, and they always show up fine. Also, it happens on pages where there are just two or three photos as well. Any other ideas?

Yes, there is something wrong: if you check the source code of the page, you’ll see that in the questionmark cases the first part of the permalinks is missing. For instance

    ../files/2009/08/ushiku6.jpg

    instead of

Others too have complained about this recently, but I haven’t understood why/when it happens (perhaps you remember what you did differently in those cases). You’ll have to go to the html editor and correct the permalinks.

But husdal is right about his suggestion anyway: your page takes too long to load – for a visitor with a slow connection it may time out before fully loading.

Thanks. That did it. It was a huge pain to fix all the messed up photos though. They really should do something about this.
