Pictures Too Massive!

    Hi Guys,

Would someone be able to tell me why the pictures on the following page (the blog page) are massive and pixelated? Ideally, they would be quite small and homogenized all the same size. Is there a way to edit them?

    TIA.

    Hi,

On the Twenty Twelve theme, the size at which featured images on a page featuring only posts in a Blog Posts Block depends on various factors including the following:

    1. The screen size of the device used to view the page,
    2. The browser window size, and
    3. Whether widgets are displayed in the sidebar widget area.

On a test site, I created a page featuring a blog posts block with the widgets in the sidebar widget area hidden. Each of the featured images in the blog posts block are cropped to 1200 X 900 pixels, and then scaled depending upon the screen size. On my desktop, the featured images display at the same size as yours, which is 473 X 355 pixels. Both your and my featured images display much smaller when I reduce the browser window to mimic the screen size of a mobile device.

I see one featured image on your page that is particularly blurred, the spirited-child854 image. The reason for the blurring is that the width of the file image is too small, and particularly because it is smaller than the 355 pixels required in this case. The image has dimensions 555 X 278. This featured image is also cropped more than the others because its aspect ratio (almost 2:1) differs to a greater degree from the 4:3 aspect ratio determined by the theme’s design.

Note that the Quick Specs section of the Twenty Twelve theme overview suggests that featured images should have width of at least 624 pixels.
