Pinch to zoom not working on iPad

  A couple of our visually-impaired readers have brought up the issue that pinch to zoom doesn’t work on the iPad. I can’t find any setting to enable it, and in fact under Appearance -> Mobile it says “Awesome! Your theme, Yoko, is already deemed to be mobile-friendly.” So how can I get the pinch to zoom working?

  P.S. Yoko is a responsive width theme. Responsive width means the layout adapts depending on the size of the device being used to view your site. When responsive width themes are viewed on mobiles sidebars appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading.

  Go here > Appearance > Mobile and disable the mobile theme.

  @ smallhousebliss – as timethief mentioned, responsive width themes like Yoko adapt to the width of the mobile device being used. I see you switched to using the mobile theme for mobile devices, but please let me know if you have other questions about this!

  We actually haven’t changed any theme settings lately….the mobile theme setting was already set to Yes when this issue was reported to us.

  Sorry about that, and thank you for clarifying!

  I checked with our theme team, and both Yoko and the mobile theme should allow pinch to zoom. There seems to be a bug in Yoko that is preventing pinch to zoom, and our theme wranglers are looking into that issue. Please stay tuned for that fix, and let me know if you have any questions in the meantime.

  @rachelmcr The “bug” would be that the viewport meta tag in the theme is set to not allow user-scaling.

  <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0, user-scalable=0">

  They should be able to just remove user-scalable=0 from that line in the header.php and fix the issue.

  Just a note to say we’ve fixed Yoko and you can now pinch to zoom on mobile devices. I hope this helps!

  Thank you sixhours! I haven’t heard back from the original people who brought it up but it worked fine in my testing.
