Thank you for your response, root josh. My biggest desire currently is to get authors pages operational and to have the authors avatar appear on their posts – both of which have plugins, I have read. I have read up on the forums and they all involve coding, which have tried to put into my css and it does not work. I saw many youtube tutorials that used this plugins button so I thought maybe I just was missing something.
I purchased my domain through wordpress, so isn’t wordpress my host (I honestly don’t know)
I am brand new to coding and need to start at the beginning – like where do I find index.php and where do I insert the code. I just need to do my homework.

Plugins and editing the index.php files are all things you would do with self-hosted WordPress sites using the software from WordPress.org.
