I do not have a plugin tab on my dashboard

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • While plugins are common on self hosted WordPress sites, due to security concerns, they are not available on WordPress.com. There is more info regarding WordPress.com and plugins here:

    Plugins

However, we do have several built-in features that were inspired by many popular plugins. You might find what you want by searching for it at http://en.support.wordpress.com/

What feature are you looking to add with a plugin?

Also, for more information on the differences between WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress sites, please see:

Thank you for your response, root josh. My biggest desire currently is to get authors pages operational and to have the authors avatar appear on their posts – both of which have plugins, I have read. I have read up on the forums and they all involve coding, which have tried to put into my css and it does not work. I saw many youtube tutorials that used this plugins button so I thought maybe I just was missing something.

I purchased my domain through wordpress, so isn’t wordpress my host (I honestly don’t know)

I am brand new to coding and need to start at the beginning – like where do I find index.php and where do I insert the code. I just need to do my homework.

  • Plugins and editing the index.php files are all things you would do with self-hosted WordPress sites using the software from WordPress.org.

This is a good place to start as far as the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org:

Take a look through that page and let me know if you have any further questions. I’ll be happy to help.
