Ping in reference to TrackBack problem

    I noticed today that my trackbacks to some other people blog posts created and send to them automatically some «comments» in reference to my trackbacks. It’s the first time I noticed this… Because I made around 10 trackbacks to a journalist blog (to justify that this journalist was making a lot of trackbacks to another blogger in fact, this is so ironic), they received automatically 10 times the same comment (one for each blog post I made a trackback) !? With code errors too (french accent in html code). This is a big newspaper and I look a bit… humm… anyway, it looks like I send all those messages to them.

    I noticed that they start to appear in this forum too ! It seems to me that this is creating a lot of confusion right now…

    Is there any way to decide if we want or not to send those comments-like messages ?

    If you go to your Admin -> Options -> Discussion, there is an option there “Attempt to notify any Weblogs linked to from the article (slows down posting.)” that if checked will do what you are talking about. Unchecking it should do the trick for you. It is an ‘all or nothing’ option though I am afraid, but can be overridden when you create an individual post in the options on the right hand side.
