Ping Services – Useful or a Waste of Time

    I have blogs at a number of different sites and I keep wondering if the built-in ping services are ample or should be supplemented. For instance, at wordpress.com, I have posted in my learning seo blog about the usefulness of the free ping tools: pingomatic, pingler, and pingoat (i couldn’t make these names up).

    Basically, do they add anything beyond the built-in automated pinging tool?

    I asked this same question in an email to WordPress.com support. They said that WordPress automatically notifies pingomatic.

    This leaves a second question: do pingler and pingoat do anything beyond what pingomatic does?
