  Just an note > Pings are automatically sent if you have selected to make your blog visible to everyone on the Settings > Privacy page. If your blog is private or if you block search engines, pings will not be sent.

  Dumb Bunny alert!

  If pingbackss are blocked, does that mean search engines won’t find public pages or do they have nothing to do with them? Pingbacks seem to me to be like bookmarks between blogs – is that anywhere near accurate? Do they work the same way on static pages?

  As long as you set your blog to “Public” under Settings > Privacy, I don’t think blocking pingbacks would prevent search engines from accessing your blog.
