Pingback email spam for a page not post

I get non-stop email spam because of pingbacks to a page on a WordPress site. I’ve unchecked ‘Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks) on new posts’ and the page in question doesn’t allow comments. But I can’t see where I can disable pingbacks. All the instructions I can find are for posts not pages.
I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

Oh, thanks for this. So is there a community forum that people can discuss WordPress issues unconnected with the wordpress.com hosting, and I’ll ask there?
