Pingback for daily prompt & challenges not working

    My blog the Minimal Web is fairly new and the first few posts contain pingbacks to daily prompt and discover challenge by the Daily Post.

    I have never pingbacked anyone’s posts before (including mine), so the posts I wrote in response to the prompts would be the first ones with pingbacks. My posts, however, did not show up among the other responses.

    I followed the instructions on how to do Pingbacks from WordPress https://en.support.wordpress.com/comments/pingbacks/ and from the Daily Post’s instructions. Alas, my responses are not showing up. What do I do?

    Is there a reason why my Pingbacks don’t seem to be working? Am I missing something? The format that I am using for my Pingbacks are links using the a href attribute.

    Hi there,

    With your Protest post you linked to the Reader, not to the Daily Post. The link on your post is going to https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/27030/posts/1251520849

    Your We don’t know everybody post was published two weeks ago, so if the pingback was accidentally spammed or deleted, it is completely gone by now meaning there is no way for me to check. If this happens again with your next post, please let me know immediately so I can take a look.

    Hi, Kokkieh. I am confused about what went wrong. For both posts I have included the link to the original post. The one that was from two weeks ago was created by clicking on the blue button “Post about One, Two, Three”. This button was shown on the Reader under every prompt and challenge post.

    So according to the instructions all I needed to do was copy the code, for example, from today’s prompt:
    <a href="https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/flee/">Flee</a>
    and that’s done. Does it differ from pushing the “Post about” button? It will open a new blog post page with the title “Daily Prompt: Flee”.

    Is it showing up among the other responses? Fingers crossed.

    The Post About button in the Reader, pasting the HTML code, or just adding the link yourself should all work. When adding the link just make sure you copy it from the actual Daily Post site and not from the Reader.

    Your Flee post does appear on the Daily Post, though, so it looks like the last one worked:

    Pingbacks do sometimes fail, and it looks like it might have happened with your first post, but unless it happens repeatedly there’s not really reason to suspect a bigger problem. Pingbacks also need to be approved before they appear on a site, so it might not appear on the Daily Post instantly after you publishes your post.

    If it happens again, let me know, but it looks like it’s working now.
