Pingback notifications being held by Akismet

The last few times one of my posts has included a link back to one of my earlier posts, the notification has been held for moderation by Akismet. This has never happened before and I can’t figure out why it’s happening now. I’ve recently changed my Comment settings to require a previously approved comment, but made no changes regarding pingbacks, notifications, etc. Surely Akismet understands my comments and pingbacks have been previously approved, since I reply to readers’ comments.
Also, just now, a pingback notification from a good friend was held in Akismet. His comments have been approved for years.
Can someone explain to me what’s happening and why?

It just happened again. Only this time the notification email didn’t even include my Gravitar. It used an Identicon instead, as with anonymous commenters. I’m perplexed.
