Pingback question

  Sometimes when I create a post I get a pingback. What causes that? Is there anything I can do to prevent getting pingbacks from my own posts?

  Pinging definition: Many blog authoring tools automatically ping one or more servers each time the blogger creates a new post (or updates an old one.)
