Pingbacks and Trackbacks not working
-
Over the past few days I have been adding hyperlinks to my new articles, from previous articles, and vice versa. I am not getting any notifications to tell me these have been successful.
They are not appearing on the bottom of the page in the comments section.
I am using Suburbia Theme.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Please check your settings and make sure that pingbacks are not disabled on the posts in question:

FWIW, this was the post in question
http://backpackerlee.wordpress.com/2014/11/13/sadarghat-dhaka-what-a-load-of-rubbish/
All my settings have trackbacks/pingbacks ON for every post.

Hi there,
It looks like the links you provided (https://backpackerlee.wordpress.com/2014/08/05/bangladesh-mourns-again/ for example) use “https” rather than http. Since you don’t have an SSL attached to your site at this time (we haven’t implemented SSL support yet for WordPress.com), our pingback system didn’t see that as a link to one of your posts, so didn’t create the link.
If you fix that link, it should work for you!

I am having the same problem with the Weekly Photo Challenge on the Daily Post (again)
-
@amightywp I saw you mention the https:// point but as that is the url that is indicated in the browser when I navigate to my own page hosted on wordpress.com big is it possible to “fix the link” the url is provided by wordpress.com not the user?
Does that make sense?

Hi there,
We have indeed been slowly rolling out https for everyone (it was a surprise to us all!). It’s been causing some issues with various systems but we’re working on ironing out the bugs, including with links, pingbacks, etc.
Sorry that I didn’t have this answer earlier. Like I said, this was a surprise to a lot of us.

Ok, well good to know something is being worked on.
Do we have a timeframe?
Is there something we the users will need to implement, or will it change back automatically?
-
I’m afraid that I do not have a timeframe. We have to prioritize bugs of course, but then we work to get fixes out for them as quickly as possible.
As for what will need to be done, until we have those fixes I’m not sure what each user will need to do (if anything) for pingbacks to start working again.
