pingbacks and unicode

  It seems that the pingback mechanism is stymied by unicode characters in URLs. A few days ago I posted this entry:

  The L¹ Norm

  where I had to us the Unicode character ¹ because I can’t use the <sup> tag in a title field.

  In the last couple days I posted these:

  http://unapologetic.wordpress.com/2010/05/31/indefinite-integrals-and-convergence-i/
  http://unapologetic.wordpress.com/2010/06/01/indefinite-integrals-and-convergence-ii/

  both of which link back to the first post. They sent all their other pingbacks as expected, but neither has generated a pingback to the first post I mentioned. My only guess is that this has something to do with the Unicode character.

  Is this an oversight that might be fixed? If not, can I force a pingback some other way?
