Pingbacks between own blog posts not working
-
I have set up a pingback inside this post http://wp.me/p231sX-Fe to pingback to this post: http://wp.me/p231sX-F7
I’ve used pingbacks between my own posts previously and there’s been no issue. Both posts are set up to allow pingbacks. I guess I’ve done something wrong somewhere, but I can’t find it – any ideas?
http://www.tasmanialainen.wordpress.com is the blog I’m having issue with. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
It looks like the link you added in your post is https://tasmanialainen.wordpress.com/2017/01/31/tuesday-tastes-032017/, while that page actually loads at https://tasmanialainen.wordpress.com/2017/01/31/asian-harkis-bowl/
It appears you edited the post slug on the older post, but still used the orginal URL when you added the link in the new post.
We can automatically redirect the old link to the new one, but for pingbacks there needs to be an exact match. If you update that link to the correct one, it should trigger the pingback.

THANK you Kokkeih – that is exactly what I did (and this is one good reason for not editing posts after the fact!)
I’ll go and fix everything to get the right pingbacks happening.
Have a great Wednesday!
Cheers

Glad I could help :)
Editing a post after publication is okay, but be careful of changing the date or editing the post slug, as both those actions change the permalink for the post, meaning any existing links for the post that has already been shared can stop working.
As you saw in this case, we try to redirect to the correct link, but in the case of a date change, for example, we won’t be able to do that, leading to 404 errors on your site.
