Pingbacks from prior URL

So I recently made a highly overdue change to my URL and most of the hyperlinks back to old posts still work fine, but the pingbacks ON those old posts (the links in their comment section) lead to dead pages — as they still go to the old URL. I take it there’s no way of fixing this?

    Hi there!

You mentioned, “hyperlinks back to old posts still work fine.” Could you share an example?

Generally speaking, when you change the site URL, old links do not redirect to the new URL. Also, pingbacks are like comments. Once they are posted, they are not updated when the site is changed, or any other modifications are made to the actual site. So the links not working is actually expected.

    Thanks!

I suppose I figured there’s not much to do (save for editing the pingback comments and paste in the new URL, hah…), but what I meant was that the links themselves — the ones that create pingbacks — have “autocorrected” or whatever so that they lead to my new URL. Of course, this gets messed up if I open a pre-name change post in the editor (where it still says my old URL), but still fairly neat that the published links got updated.

    Thanks!
