Pingbacks not going through
-
Yesterday I posted my “Lazy Sunday Round-up” where I link to interesting posts I’ve read throughout the week. The pingbacks went through to one blog, but not to the rest of them. This was my first round-up, but it’s nothing new, at least not with my circle of blogging buddies. No-one else seems to have a problem with it. Any ideas on why the pingbacks didn’t go through?
Thanks!

Pingbacks do not go through “automatically”. That is actually completely up to the blog owner. If it’s the WordPress blog, firstly, the blog owner must allow pingbacks, and secondly, the blog owner can still decide whether he or she wants to publish the pingbacks or not. The latter also applies to non-WordPress blogs. So, in essence, no matter how many pingbacks you send out, you have no control over what happens to them.
-
I understand how they work. I am also familiar with the people I sent pingbacks to. One is my husband. Heck, one was me!
The pingbacks not making it through at all.
-
I see, you mean the blog being pinged didn’t get a pingback that was supposed to have come from you? Sometimes they do take a little time, but…it’s not in the spam queue is it?
-
No, they’re not in the spam queue. And I’ve never known them to take 24 hours or more. Have you?
-
I’m still not able to send pingbacks. I linked from one of my blogs to another this morning and no pingback. Can someone in charge please address this problem?
Thanks!

These are the two I had trouble with this morning:
Linked from here: http://lottierambleson.wordpress.com/
to here: http://idiosyncratica.wordpress.com/2008/07/15/your-mission-should-you-choose-to-accept-it/
But there are several others my pingbacks didn’t make it to over the weekend. One was my husband’s blog and one should have showed up on my own blog and didn’t. Plus, there were a few others as well. I don’t know why I can’t send pingbacks. :-(
-
I just made a test post which should send a pingback to my husband’s blog:
It hasn’t gone through yet.
-
They’re showing up as incoming links instead of pingbacks, even though I’m linking to specific posts.
-
Well, some of them are anyway…
Sorry for all the comments. Just trying to help sort this out. ::sigh::

Hello mikesgirl,
any time the URL ends with example.com the pingback
wont work it needs a permalink for it to work so you
need to link back to a article link for this to work…
Example.com/article name/IF you don’t have the option turned on for your
site to send track backs automatically I recommend
turning this option on so you don’t have to manually
send track backs to wordpress.com blogs by going this
route example.wordpress.com/article name/trackback/P.s. the track back URL differs with non wordpress sites
this is another reason I recommend turning on the option
for your site to send the track back for you….I hope this was helpful for you… :)

Oh I forgot to mention the article link also has to be in your
post before your site will ping back [track back] the other site… -
I understand all that. I’ve sent many pingbacks and have never had a problem before. The URL’s are correct and the posts/articles are linked in the posts I’ve written. The pingbacks just are not working this time for some reason.
But thanks. :-)
