There have been a few reports of this issue.
Can you share a few examples of posts that should have pingbacks, but never got them?

The Prompts Breakthrough and Disagree. Both of those did not go through. The Prompt Graceful went through after 12 hours. These were prompts on the Daily Post by Ben Huberman.

Is someone at WP trying to block my pings?
No. There is a long standing issue with pingbacks on https://dailypost.wordpress.com/ site.

As @Timethief mentioned, no one is blocking your pings – it is an issue with the Daily Post that is affected many users and we’re we’re in the process of trying to fix it.

I checked and also do not see the post in Daily Posts. I reached out to our team internally and they told me that your issue isn’t related to the glitch that we were able to fix a few days ago.
