Pingbacks not working

Pingbacks don’t seem to be working on my blog. Initially, links to existing pages (used in content of post) weren’t working but I re-did those and that has resolved the problem. However, the pingbacks at the bottom of the page don’t seem to work and I don’t know how to control/fix them.

Pingbacks are enabled by default on all WordPress.com blogs. If they aren’t working then you must have disabled them. Please see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/comments/pingbacks/

Thanks for your reply.
I followed these instructions for enabling/disabling pingbacks – I had to add ‘Discussion’ in screen options and the boxes for “Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page.” were already ticked for both posts. I checked and they still don’t work.

I have now solved the problem. It seems that the pingback link was using the wrong address as I had previously changed the published date – so while the website adjusts the post’s URL automatically, the pingback does not do this when you use their ‘link to existing content’ facility. I suppose that this is just a fault with the site.
