How to stop pingbacks on links to my own site?
-
I often link to my own earlier posts, but I don’t like having pingbacks show up because of that. But I don’t want to turn off pingbacks entirely. Just my own pingbacks.
Any way to do that? If not, maybe a feature you could work in at some point?
Thanks. Love WP. You guys are great.

Hi Bob,
Unfortunately, users are unable to turn off pingbacks that are specific to one user, such as themselves.
If you’re primarily concerned about having your “self-“pingback appear in your post’s Comments section, you can always change your settings to moderate all comments and pingbacks to your stie via your Dashboard > Settings > Discussion.
Additionally, you always have the option to delete the pingback.
I apologize that this doesn’t quite solve the problem you’re experiencing, but hope that it’s a useful alternative!

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, usually I just trash my own pingbacks. That’s fine. I was just wondering if there was a way I could avoid that step.
On the other hand, I suppose they could be useful if somebody lands on an old post and could use it to find their way to a related newer post.
But I usually feel like they sort of clutter up any comment thread.
Thanks.
