Pinging Search Engines

    Hi
    I am aware that WordPress uses ping-o-matic when posts are added. I am not too clear about the difference in characteristics of pages vs posts.

    What happens if pages are added – are they treated the same way as posts, that is does it ping anything?

    Also, what happens if you simply modify a page rather than add a page, does that trigger any pinging.
