Pings and plummeting hits

    I started allowing pings this week, and my blot stats have plummeted. Is it the pings? Are they able to direct traffic away from me? Or is it just a coincidence? What’s up?

    I imagine it would be a coincidence… I can’t see why allowing pings would drive traffic away. Usually it has the other effect; at the least it usually brings the blog owner across to have a look, particularly if it’s about them.

    Have you done anything else that might cause a slowdown? Not posted for several days? Used any unusual categories or tags? I’ve noticed a slight slowdown over the last week myself, so it might not be unusual; a lot of people are busy over Easter.

    I’d not thought about Easter weekend. The drop was just so precipitous (from 50+ hits to 5 or so) that I was concerned. New blogger, not sure what to make of it. I’ll watch and see if it improves next week.
