Pinterest embed to blog not working
-
Hi – I’d like to use a javascript code from Pinterest to enable me to post one of my boards to my blog (cog-loves.com) – this is the code: <div></div><script type=”text/javascript” src=”//assets.pinterest.com/js/pinit.js”></script>
My understanding is that if I copy/paste the code to the text widget and this would enable the image of the board to show in my blog post. However, I am aware that WordPress does not permit javascript, so when I paste the code, it doesn’t save (is blocked).
As this code is generated from Pinterest, a reliable source, is there any way to enable this feature? I’d also like to be able to post pins from my boards to blog posts, but assume the challenge may be the same.
If this is not possible, what do you suggest?
Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you.
Julie

Hi Julie,
It isn’t possible to paste Javascript of any kind on WordPress.com, for security reasons. However, we do have some built-in features for Pinterest — no Javascript necessary! These features include the ability to embed a board, individual pins, or your profile from Pinterest on your WordPress.com blog.
We have instructions for doing that here: Embed from Pinterest
Please let me know if you’d like any further help with this. :)

Hi Rachel,
Thank you for your reply and for the link. It looked very straightforward, but unfortunately the image of the Pin board is not displaying – only the link.I copied/pasted the URL to the pin board in to the TEXT tab of the blog post editor. I also ensured that the link was not linked. When I saved and previewed, only the link displayed. Same when I went to the VISUAL tab.
This is the line where I pasted the URL link: <div style=”text-align: center;”>http://www.pinterest.com/citybeautyguide/pins-of-the-week/</div>
I really wanted to get this post published yesterday – I’d be so appreciative if you are able to reply back today.
Thank you!

Hi Julie,
You’ll need to paste the link on a line by itself, without any formatting or other HTML code. In the example you gave, you’ll need to remove the HTML div tags around the link. (The link needs to be on a line by itself for the link to be converted into the embedded Pin board.)
Please let me know if you have any questions about that!

Hi Rachel –
Thank you – this did work. I’m not sure how to center the pin boards, but I am glad I was able to view and publish it.
Thanks again for your help.

Hi Julie,
I’m glad that worked for you! Because of how the embedded board is created from the URL, there isn’t a way to center the pin board on your blog. Sorry about that!
