Pinterest Website Verification
-
I have tried again and again to do the Pinterest website verification. I have followed the instructions to paste the link in the Pinterest Site Verification box in Available Tools. Every time I try to add the meta tag to the box, it cuts the tag down to just the text portion of the content of the tag. So, of course, Pinterest won’t allow the verification. How can I get this to keep the entire tag and finish the verification?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Helen.
I can see that you’ve copied and pasted the content value of your meta tag from Pinterest via Tools > Available Tools in WP Admin. This is the only part of the tag that needs to be copied over, and you’ll be able to complete verification through Pinterest now. Are you seeing any error when trying to complete the verification on Pinterest’s end? If so, let me know details of the error and I’ll look into how I can help you further.

So, I went to Pinterest. I clicked on the option to verify my website. I copied the meta tag they provide ().
Then I went to my WordPress.com dashboard. Went to available tools and pasted the tag into the box for Pinterest verification. After hitting save, the info in the box is changed to this: edb1b5933dd2544ddcd20f494668a298
So, I went back to Pinterest to complete verification. I says “Oops! Trouble verifying your domain. Please try again later”. That's the same message I get every time I try to verify. How do I fix this? Thanks!

Can you let me know the exact URL that you’ve added on Pinterest’s end? It should be https://therunnermom.wordpress.com, with the s after http and no www. at the start.

I updated the URL to be https://therunnermom.wordpress.com. I was http://www.therunnermom.wordpress.com. I made sure to save it in my Pinterst profile. Then I went back in to verify the website and still go the same error response telling me it could not be verified. Sorry to be such a pain. Sometimes technology does not like to do what it's supposed to for me.

Hi Helen.
Could you go back to your Pinterest profile and change the website to therunnermom.wordpress.com, without the https or www in front of it? Once you’ve done that ‘Save Profile.’ When you go back to Edit Profile, Pinterest will have automatically added the https to the front of the URL. You should be able to complete the verification from there.
Can you let me know how you get on with trying those steps?

When I logged into my email today, Pinterest had sent me an email saying my site is now verified. I checked my profile, and it looks good. Thank you for all of your help!!
