PIQUE Featured photo is tiling, regardless of size

Hi. I’m using Pique. No matter what size photo I put in my home page’s featured photo, it tiles. I even edited my photo to match the dimensions of the theme’s placeholder photo and it still happens.
Also, like another user, I can’t edit the widgets or photo in the footer.
I’ve looked here for help and see that neither the designer nor anyone from staff answers any questions about this theme. Should you discontinue it if you aren’t supporting it?
I’m building a mockup to present to our deacons as a case for moving our (paid) website to WordPress. At this point, I haven’t even convinced myself.
Changing themes and disappointed.
