Pique Theme – Headers, Pages & Backgrounds
-
Hi all, firstly, thanks for any time that anyone can offer to help me on my series of finishing touches!
So, I’m working on a WordPress based site for my wife who has recently decided to become her own boss (jealous), I decided that Pique was the right theme for the job & before things can go live I just want to square away these final few issues, if possible!
The site is: Hair by Leah Evans, I’m viewing it on a 22″ screen.
1) So, some images need sorting out, replacing etc, but presently the different panels seem to have a set height, what I’d love to do is have each panel scale to the content (I appreciate they’ll scale up, I’m looking to reduce their size where necessary) so that areas such as the header do not take up so much real estate when there is no need, ie: the Header on the Main Page is currently more than double what I’d like.
I notice that when the window is reduced, so is the header, to an extent, but I’d like it to trim to just below the menu, relative to the style spacing used throughout. Similarly, I’d like the other panels to do the same, increasing in height only when necessary.2) The next issue relates to individual pages, once you’ve navigated away from the scrolling front page (ie; when you click on links to individual blog entries, such as this).
On these pages things start to get a little weird; Header images are working well, but lack the opacity layer, thus reducing visibility of the header content.3) However, on one particular page, things get a little weird, when the image set as the header (which the theme uses for the Footer) starts showing up as the Header, while the Featured Image becomes the background!
Other than that, Pique is perfect for Leah’s needs & I’d love to use it if I can just resolve these last few niggles!
Thanks again!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I am sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you have worked out any of these issues on your own? I have some similar concerns. I was also wondering about your logo. How did you place it? I can’t seem to get mine to work in a size more than 100×100 no matter what I do. I ended up moving a logo below the menu for now just to mess around.
Your site is looking great, btw. !

Hey, not a bother at all! Unfortunately I’ve not figured it out yet, spent a few days looking and decided to post here only yesterday, hoping someone can help :)
As for the logo, I just used the site logo option in the customiser. Wish I could give your more help than that but that’s all it was!

fireside2016 – if you still need help, could you continue in your own thread? Thanks!

Custom CSS is available with the Premium or Business plans and you can get assistance in the CSS Customization forum.

Pique’s blog page displays the custom header at the top (if you’ve added one) and each post’s featured image as a background image, so you’ll want to keep that mind when choosing a featured image on each post. The intended effect may be clearer if you have a peek at the demo’s blog page:

Let me know if you have any other questions about Pique!

Hi Kathryn,
Thanks for your help, I’ve since decided to modify slightly how the site operates to better mesh with Pique.
Thanks to your advice I’ve managed to get around my issues with the Blog, its still not 100% how I’d like to have had it, but it’ll do.
Thanks again for all your help & time!

You’re very welcome.
I like the way you’ve used a circular tiled gallery on the Colours page – works well!
