Pique Theme – Static Pages and Dynamic Category Pages
-
Hi,
I am thinking of switching to the Pique Theme from my current Perle.
The site info says you can add pages to the static homepage as panels.
I was wondering if that also includes dynamic category pages?
I would like to have two static pages on the first two panels, then a further 4 pages that showcase my blog posts according to the categories applied to them.
Thanks for any help
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi folks, one thing that might work:
– Make a static page for inclusion
– On that page, use a Posts block to include that category:

Hi Both,
Many thanks for the quick replies.
@supernovia – i did a quick fiddle with your suggestion and the post block does work. Unfortunately, as the panel is still linking to a page it displays everything on the page and with at least 30 to 40 posts in the post block on each panel, that makes the panels gigantic. Thanks again for the tip though.
Are there are any themes that can handle multiple non-static post pages on the the homepage and yet only feature the most recent posts?

There is not. You have two options to show posts on the front page: You can either display all your posts, or you can set a static page and use the Blog Posts block to display a limited number of posts, optionally restricted to specific categories, tags or authors.
Pique is not an ideal theme for this, in my opinion. Pique is designed to show static pages in panels on the front page. Sure, you can add a blog posts block to each static page, ultimately having each display in its own panel on the front page, but it comes with certain issues that you’ve noticed yourself.
If you want different panels on the front page showing different post categories, I’d rather recommend you look at one of our newer block-editor themes. With these themes you’ll create a regular static homepage, and then create your own “panels” using the Cover block, with a blog posts block nested inside it.
The default setup of Alves is a good example (it has only one panel with a blog posts block, but will give you the general idea), but any of the newer block editor themes can be set up to look like this:

Hi,
Thanks for the info
I actually think i found a workaround using Pique. A static homepage with a dedicated dynamic post panel where i put all my blog posts (only showing the most recent three). Then underneath, 4 static panels connecting to pages titled according to my categories (e.g travel, history, politics, reviews). The text in these pages will be just a couple of sentences explaining the purpose of the category and then i add a ‘call to button’ which will be replicated on the panel on the homepage.
The button is linked to the category, which when pressed should take the reader to the dynamic cat page with all the posts under that category.
The panels wont display the blog posts but having the option of explaining the purpose of the category might actually be more suitable for the type of site I have rather than 3 post images and titles on each panel.
I hope, i’ll give it a bash anyway.
Thanks again
