Pique theme – Unable to edit sidebar
-
Lately, every time I try to go to my sidebar, I get a message saying that page doesn’t display them. My front page doesn’t display them, but my others do. It doesn’t seem to matter what page I’m on, though – I get the same message.
Anyone have any ideas?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Every theme has a detailed theme description page. This one is at https://wordpress.com/theme/pique and that’s where set up instructions for it and the live demo site link is found.
Note that the optional sidebar is up to 408 wide.

Widget Visibility -
Lately, every time I try to go to my sidebar, I get a message saying that page doesn’t display them.
Do you mean at Customize > Widgets > Sidebar? If so, I was unable to duplicate this issue in a test site. I find that all of the four available widget areas display at Customize > Widgets regardless of whether the previewer is displaying the blog page — which is the front page in your case, a static page, a post, or archives pages.
My front page doesn’t display them, but my others do. It doesn’t seem to matter what page I’m on, though – I get the same message.
These two statements seem to contradict each other, but perhaps I’m misunderstanding what you’re saying here. Your front page is set to display the blog page. Because on the Pique theme the blog page is displayed at full-width, there is no room for the sidebar widget area. Sidebar widgets can not be displayed on this page. Nevertheless, the “Sidebar” option should appear at Customize > Widgets when you are displaying the front page in the previewer at Customize.

musicdoc,
I’m sorry. Yes. I do mean at Customize>Widgets. However, when I go there now, I get this message:
“Your theme has 4 widget areas, but this particular page doesn’t display them. You can navigate to other pages on your site while using the Customizer to view and edit the widgets displayed on those pages.”
Maybe that’s where the confusion is coming. I’m not trying to add a sidebar to my homepage, but it gives me the same message no matter what page I try to click (those that should have a sidebar).
Thank you!

Okay, thanks for the clarification. I don’t have an explanation for that behavior and haven’t been able to replicate it on a test site, so I’ll call for staff attention. Please wait for a staff member to respond.

Hi there,
What browser are you using? Can you please see if clearing the browser cache, or using a different browser, makes any difference in this regard?
I can see the widget areas if I view a single post or page in the Customizer preview on your site, so I don’t think the problem is with the site.

Thanks for checking on this for me, kokkieh.
I cleared the cache. Didn’t work. I’ve been using Edge, but I just tried Chrome and had the same issue.
I am able to make adjustments if I go to the site timethief gave me – http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.COM/wp-admin/widgets.php. I can work with that. But am I going to have to remember that whole thing every time I want to make adjustments? Why can’t I get to this when logging in to my site?
Thank you all!

Can you please take a screen shot for me of what the Customizer’s widget tab looks like to you? Make sure you first click on the title of a single post or of a page in the preview – do not take a screen shot with the front page showing in the preview, as the widgets are not supposed to be available there.
Upload the screen shot to your media library, and let me know so I can take a look at see what you see.
