Pixelated/blurred images
-
My illustrations are posting blurry, even when I size them at 72res, 100 percent, 880pixels width in either Jpg or Gif format.
I have tried the opposite where it is high res and wordpress still posts them up in lower quality.
I want to post drawings of mine these but can’t because the quality is poor.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there – Those that you’ve most recently uploaded are displaying properly on my end. This is what they look like:
http://cl.ly/image/0Q3m3s1Y412dIs that different from how they look on your end? If so, can you please make a screenshot of what you’re seeing and upload it to your Media Library so I can take a look? Here are instructions for how to make a screenshot: http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/

Hi,
Thank you so much for posting a reply. Here are links to the a) preview post compared to the b) actual picture.

b) http://londonfatcat.files.wordpress.com/2013/11/2-clicked-on-to.jpg
The second one is crisp while the first isn’t.
I’ve read this advice from another forum:
“Images resized by WP lose some color and sharpness. So what you should do is upload and insert copies of your images after you downsize them (using an image editing application) to fit the main blog column (in the theme you’re using, 600px).
If that doesn’t completely correct things, then switch the editor to html and delete the width and height commands from the image code.”
As mentioned in my original post, I have resized images to 880px and tried them at various resolutions (72, 96 etc). From the above advice, I’m not sure how you’d delete the ‘width and height commands’ however I have noticed on HTML view, the image width is stated as ‘800’, not ‘880’, making me think it has automatically scaled down even thought I am setting it at original size (880px). Nonetheless, even when I change this code to 880, the image still isn’t as sharp.
Thank you!

Hi there – the full width of your post column is 800px, so the image has been scaled down to that. To me, it looks sharp at both sizes, certainly not pixelated or blurry, although clicking through to the full-sized image is bigger.
You can try resizing it to 800px wide with your image editing software and then upload that sized down image and see if it’s sharper.

Eurello,
I have just tried that – it is the same, the image is not crisp. Here are the comparisons:

Hi there – Ok, thanks, I see what you mean with that comparison. I’m sending you an email, so you can attach your image file and I can try it out on my end.
