place my domain on hold?

  I am traveling for six months in a remote area without internet access, is there anyway to place my domain on hold? I am up for a $17 renewal tomorrow but I leave in a week and will not be using the website until I return in six months. I am afraid of losing all of the work on my website. Is there anyway that I can renew my domain when I return and when I will be actively using it?

  Unfortunately, no. If you allow the domain to expire, you may be able to re-purchase it later. Otherwise, you’ll need to renew it before it expires.

  Will all of the content posted on my domain be there when I repurchase the domain ?

  Yes, a domain redirects to your WordPress.com blog. When the domain expires, your WordPress.com blog content will still be available. Note that if your domain expires, you take the risk of loosing it to somebody else.
