Placement of Ads covering my content

Hi everyone,
I’m new to WordPress and blogging. I understand that with a free basic plan (I’m a student) I’m going to have ads on my blog. Am I correct in assuming these are displayed all the time? When I visit my site on my mobile they are always there and covering the content on my front homepage. I would understand that these are present on my blog however on mobile, they cover the image background of my first post on the homepage. My blog is an artsy poetry blog ( at least that’s what I’m hoping to create) so any advice or information would be helpful here. Thanks All!

That’s correct, ads are displayed on sites using the free plan but the exact ads shown will vary from person to person.
When I visit my site on my mobile they are always there and covering the content on my front homepage.
That doesn’t sound right, ads shouldn’t be covering content. I’ve visited thinlyslicedhams.wordpress.com but haven’t been able to see any issues so it would be great if you could make a screenshot of what is happening on mobile and upload it to your Media Library — I can then take a closer look.

Thanks for clarifying the above and taking a look. I am using an iPhone 6s plus iOS 12.1.2 and the stock Safari 12 browser that comes with it. I’ve uploaded the screenshot of the ad placement on the home screen on mobile, hopefully you can shed some light on this.

You are right. I can see those ads covering up your front page. I have made some adjustments on our end, can you please reload your website on your mobile and check it out?
