placement of the categories section?

  how would i go about moving the categories in my blow for the bottom of the page to the top of the side bar on my ocean mist themed blog for my school newspaper (under construction) isfeldicebreaker.wordpress.com? any ideas? im new to this whole css business :S

  You can hide the lower categories listings by adding ” display:none; ” to .catlist, but unfortunately the title bar for the lower categories is controlled by .title which is also controls the titles for the posts themselves which means hiding the greybar and the categories title would also hide the page and post titles.

  You can display your categories in your sidebar by adding the categories widget to the sidebar.

  wow that worked well. thanks. do you possibly have any idea how to get rid of the light blue/whiteish box behind my header?

  The dark area above the header image is part of that as well. This is the image http://s2.wordpress.com/wp-content/themes/pub/ocean-mist/images/bg_header.gif and it is declared in #header. You would need to make a new one to replace it, or do a background color and set the image URL declaration to none.

  Try this:

  change the background declaration in #header to
  blue none no-repeat scroll center top;
  and change the background declaration in #page to
  blue none no-repeat scroll center top;

  You can change the colors as you wish. I just popped in blue as a placeholder.
