Placing Ads on blogs
-
Just an idea. I think we should be able to place ADs from outside sources like, Google Adsense, AdBright, and more. This way we can make money to be able to buy more themes and other great services that WP provides.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can, if you have the VIP upgrade. It costs about $600 a month. Otherwise, there is only the AdControl upgrade, which splits revenue between WordPress.com and the blogger. If you want more than that, you have to go offsite, because ad code is not normally within our security guidelines.

Most people wouldn’t be able to make enough money to buy the themes or upgrades with the money they would make from ads. Usually if you have several thousand unique hits a day, then you could make some good money. But most people won’t.

One of the reasons that wordpress.COM is virtually splog (spam blog) free is that they do not allow advertising. I’ve seen estimates that some of the blog platforms that allow advertising are anywhere from 50 to 70% splogs.
WordPress.com is for people who want to blog. If you want to advertise, there are other options out there for you.

I’m curious, why is it wordpress’s responsibility to provide you a free place to make money?

I’m not saying it is their responsibility, I’m just saying it would be nice. There are tons of other places out there that will let me sell ad space for free.
