Placing Pages in Correct Order
-
Good Afternoon,
I am attempting to post pages on my new blog. I have the Fleur de lys theme and wish to organize my pages in the left sidebar under the widgets “My Story” and “Newspaper Articles”. I have chosen the pages widget and attempted to list these two under the attributes section. I began by choosing My Story, however, when I attempted to add Newspaper Articles, this widget replaced My Story.
I need to know exactly how to post pages in the correct order on the left sidebar, as well as how to post the parent post which will appear when visitors first visit my blog. The instructions and tutorials are rather confusing regarding this process. The Writing Pages video mentions a video which explains this process in more detail, however, I have been unable to locate it.
I need to have this blog ready as soon as possible. Please reply when you receive this letter.
Thanks,
— James Woods

I’m going to suggest you read up on the difference between Posts and Pages; pages do not go to the main page of the blog, one on top of another in reverse-chronological order.
Over time, using Pages rather than Posts will hurt your blog. Two days ago we had to walk someone through copy/pasting their entire blog from pages to posts. Pages, essentially, are as attractive as old, dead fish to search engines and Posts are what they find attractive. As well, you won’t be able to offer Subscribe by Email or RSS updates, since Pages are not on the RSS feed.

Used normally, the Pages widget simply lists all of the titles of all of your pages. If that’s not what you want, perhaps you want to use a text widget, which will enable you to put whatever you like in it, in whatever order.
