  Hi, I’ve done the free one and when I get paid I will upgrade. It was just that at one point I was only being offered the paid plans and couldn’t get paid to the section where the free plan was! The system wouldn’t let me. It’s all good now though. :-)

  I’d been considering starting a forum topic on this, because I’ve been unable to find either support documents or forum topics which specifically explain how to update an existing account with a free plan to one with a premium or business plan. Just came across another topic with the same question minutes ago, and have seen it several times in the past couple of days.

  It’s probably something very simple that I’ve been missing. Right now my best guess is that it involves domain mapping, but since registering a domain requires the premium plan, we’re back to how to get the premium plan on an existing site.

  You can upgrade any site from http://wordpress.com/plans . You’ll see plans with their lists of features there. If you already have a paid plan and are looking to upgrade it, you’ll likely see discount pricing there, depending on how much time you have left on the existing plan.
