  That’s a great question. WordPress.com does not take any ownership over your content and it truly belongs to you as the site owner. You can take it and move it anytime you wish. This isn’t true with all managed hosting providers, so be careful about where you move the site, and make sure that you clarify this bit with any new provider.

  A back up is only available on the business and ecommerce plans, so you would want to download this prior to cancellation.
