Plan Upgrade Question
-
Hello,
I have a quick question. I am currently trying to upgrade my plan to the personal option; however, since it is billed for the year, I was wondering what the process is if you want to upgrade even further before the end of your billed year? For example, if I were to be charged for a year of personal and I decided in a few months to upgrade to premium, is that a possibility and how would I be charged?
Thank you so much for your time! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We can typically help you out with that if you decide you would like to step up a plan. Just contact support if you make that decision:

Ditto If I upgrade before the annual renewal how does it work? Do I get a refund of the unused annual fee put towards the upgrade?
-
If you upgrade before an expiration date, it just extends another year from the expiration date. The clock does not start on the renweal date.

Thanks for your reply, I get it that I can upgrade in mid year however how is the difference in fees applied if at all.
If the years subscription date remains the same and I have paid for a year will the upgrade mean I apy the pro rata difference according to you scheme?
As Julie said “how would I be charged?

Ah, I think I misunderstood what you were asking. My apologies.
If, for example, you purchased a WordPress.com Personal Plan and 3 months later decide that you really needed the WordPress.com Premium plan, staff would apply a pro-rated discount to your Premium purchase. There are a couple ways staff could go about that, but the easiest would probably be to apply some credits to your account to reflect the discount. You would then purchase the Premium theme as you normally would, but at a discount due to the credits.

Hi (forgot to tick the notification box)
Thats what I wanted to know. I’m not really clear what the upgrade plans give so this will make it easy for me to upgrade bit by bit and try it out.
For example the upgrade from fee to premium adds video press and monetization which I am not interested in but does not mention theme customisation in which I am guessing I can add meta tags to the “home” page.

This page should fill in a few details if you haven’t seen it:

Has anyone been able to link there personal primary domain name ie .co.uk, .com etc on the personal plan?

I found this on the forum headed “Ugrade after purchasing most basic plan”. It’s very informative and says
“The domain or mapping of any existing domain URL is included in the pricing for a personal upgrade, premium and business upgrades.
amoungst other things.

A domain credit is included with all WordPress.com paid plans. This can be used to either register a new domain, or map an existing domain registered elsewhere.
For example the upgrade from fee to premium adds video press and monetization which I am not interested in but does not mention theme customisation in which I am guessing I can add meta tags to the “home” page.
It is not possible to add meta tags on WordPress.com. Theme customization is available as part of Custom Design which is included with WordPress.com Premium:
