  So I have worked on my site, I have purchased a domain, now it seems the only way I can make any of this work is to give you money as well. So the free plan is fine as long as you don’t really want to publish anything? Am I missing something or is the free thing just a con?

  https://ourdowerinboys.home.blog/ is free to use as long as you’re happy with that address. You can publish as many posts/pages there as you like. However if you wish to use a domain purchased elsewhere (either map it or transfer it) with that new WordPress.com site then you’ll need to purchase a Personal plan or higher.
