Hey,
Very new here, I am wondering if i can build a website first then when I go live I pay for the plan, otherwise the first half a year I will be paying for a site that isn’t live. is this possible?
Thank you and i look forward to your reply,

Hi there,
One can create a beautiful, simple website in minutes; as advertised for the free plan on WordPress.com
Therefore, yes -one can build a website first and then upgrade to a paid plan.
Mind you, this depends on your needs, because there is a range of available options for paid plans. One key point is a custom domain. Another is themes and plugins. Ultimately is you need to set up an eCommerce site or not.
Here is the range of available plans:

Thank you very much for the reply, I need to set up a subscription site with a members only section that customers pay to view. I need a lot of storage so I think the 200gb plan will suffice but I’m not sure how long it will take me to make the site. I was hoping to build the site then set it live and that’s when I start paying, is this possible at all?
Kind regards,
Rhys

Hi there again Rhys,
Have you considered starting by paying monthly instead?
This way you have access immediately to the features you need which will help you with developing the website and launching it sooner.
There is a toggle for switching from yearly to monthly pricing in the link I shared earlier here with you.
Hope this helps!
