  I am not sure what plan is best for me even after doing extensive research on Google. I am with Younique and want to create a fitness, makeup, mom blog where I can also reach people already searching or interested in Younique products. Would a free blog with a .com domain be sufficient for just starting?

  Having a .com domain is indeed important !
  Every site comes with a free address with .wordpress.com in the URL. You can hide the .wordpress.com part by registering a new domain: https://en.support.wordpress.com/register-domain/
  If you already own a domain, please refer to the following support page: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
  Whatever your option is, remember to set the primary domain: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#setting-the-primary-domain

  Regarding your first question, I would say that you can give it a try. Plans and other purchases can be canceled within 30 days of purchasing (careful, domain registrations can be canceled within 48 hours of registration).
