Please next time don’t type in all CAPS (It’s consider shouting at someone on the internet)

Not with out the space upgrade.

I DON’T EVEN THINK WITH THE SPACE UPGRADE IT IS POSSIBLE.

To reiterate, please no caps, and yes it is possible with the space upgrade.

No, there is no autoplay option on WP.com for audio embeds as far as I’m aware. There are a couple of video embeds that will do it, unfortunately.

raincoaster: You are correct, I misread the question [all caps you know?] and responded thinking it was an inquiry regarding the WordPress audio player and not embedded audio.

fjullian: That said, a work around would be to follow raincoaster’s suggestion and embed a video player with audio only. Does anyone know if you can adjust the dimensions of the video player? If so then you can set it to 1px X 1px or something equivalent and achieve the same affect.

You can do it in a table as I understand it, but you have to code the table yourself.

Yes, you are correct. With a table you could make the player completely invisible. You can also adjust it in the shortcode:

    [wpvideo sampleid w=1]

Still, I don’t know if you can set it to play automatically which is what I think fjullian is really going after. You could avoid all of this by either hosting the platform yourself and editing the php or having an audio player in the Hemingway Bottombar™ [I haven’t tested this but I am pretty sure you can place it in the About Page and it should show up in the footer, images do at least]. The former costs $ but has the most flexibility. The latter is a good work-around because it gives the visitors the choice of turning on or off the music which, from a usability standpoint, is ideal.
